NEW YORK – Celtics star Jayson Tatum was carried off the court late in the fourth quarter of Boston's 121-113 loss to the New York Knicks in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference semifinals Monday night, unable to put any weight on his right leg.

The injury occurred after a Celtics turnover, when Tatum lunged for a loose ball and his leg appeared to give out. He collapsed to the floor clutching the area above his right ankle in visible pain, covering his face with a towel after the non-contact injury.

Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla said the severity of the injury is still unknown and that Tatum will undergo an MRI on Tuesday.

“Obviously, you’re always concerned about someone’s health. So it’s twofold,” Mazzulla said. “We’re worried about how he’s doing physically, and we’re also focused on what we need to improve for Game 5 back in Boston.”
